"Labor omnia vincit",now, more than ever, this motto holds true for the tenacious and dedicated owners of the Fattoria Mantellassi located in Magliano, Tuscany.
Originally from the area around the city of Pistoia, the Mantellassi family moved to Scansano and Magliano in the mid 1800s, where they worked as vine pruners and root stock grafters. After many years of practicing their craft in area vineyards, they planted their own first four hectares of grapes in 1960 in Banditaccia. Six more hectares followed, soon joined by twelve more, and today the Mantellassi family manages 50 hectares. The Fattoria's vineyards, located among the company's rolling hills on volcanic calcareous soil, are planted principally with Sangiovese grapes.
Other varieties include Alicante, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Morellino, Merlot, Canaiolo nero, Malvasia nera, Ciliegiolo, Trebbiano Toscano, Vermentino bianco, Ansonica, Sauvignon bianco, Malvasia bianca, and Chardonnay.

In 1978 Fattoria Mantellassi played a key role in obtaining DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) appellate status for Morellino di Scansano wine, and Mantellassi is considered one of the most prestigious Morellino producers.
Morellino di Scansano DOC is the company's main product, which Fattoria Mantellassi exports in large measure to Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Brothers Aleardo and Giuseppe Mantellassi own the Fattoria and directly manage all company operations, from the vineyards and cellars, to public relations, marketing, and sales. Their father Ezio offers valuable experience and plays an active role in the company, along with enologist Marco Stefanini, technical staff director.
The Fattoria Mantellassi covers 215 hectares of Maremma hillside in the Magliano in Toscana township. The area is widely known as an Etruscan archeological site, and is easily accessible from Rome, Florence, Sienna, and Livorno. The Terme di Saturnia hot springs, Sovana, the Maremma National Park, and the Argentario seashore are all nearby attractions.
